| 27 Jul 2009 - Google Ads in Predictive Search Text |

| I love the predictive text feature of Google - that's where when you start typing in the search bar, Google automatically puts up some options, trying to assume what you are looking for. Noticed this morning (and It may be old!) that when you hit a match, it will also show what I think is a sponsored link. For example, type Qantas - and you just get the predictive text. Type JetBlue and you get a title and url link, it LOOKS like a sponsored link from the results page, but perhaps it's just saying to you - look, i KNOW this is what you want, so off you go, click here. Then again, it could be sponsored links. Very interesting. Doesn't happen for all BIG BRANDS ("New York Times"?) so that helps me think its paid advertising. Should that be disclosed? |
